Dennis A Chu, M.D.

Dr. Dennis Chu, a physician, fled South Vietnam in 1975 amidst the fall of Saigon, as Vietnamese communists, aided by Communist China, seized control. Forced to labor as a manual worker for two years, he persevered until he obtained an equivalent medical degree, enabling him to practice medicine in the United States.

Dr. Chu worked at NYU Medical Center and Manhattan’s Veterans MC administration until 1985. Relocating to California that same year, he established his home there, embarking on a distinguished career that culminated in his retirement in 2010 as a full professor emeritus in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Alongside his medical career, Dr. Chu served as a colonel in the California National Guard.

A devout Buddhist, Dr. Chu’s commitment to philanthropy and community service is evident through his past presidency of the US Martial Art Association and his ongoing support for causes such as the Tibet issue. Together with his family, he remains steadfast in supporting the Tibetan cause, exemplifying his dedication to humanitarian endeavors beyond his medical profession.
